Polokwane- As part of celebrating Heritage month, SABC Limpopo radio station Munghana Lonene fm will be playing 100% local music in September. Over and above the month long initiative, the station aims to play only Xitsonga Music on 24 September to mark heritage day.
The move is part of the stations commitment to an upliftment ethos that promotes culture, language, heritage and social cohesion through music and dance.
According to the Acting Station Manager Tebogo Magubane, September will see all international music being dropped in favour of local music in all programs that normally carry a potpourri of music play. “These include the Saturday 09:00-12:00 Munghana Lonene fm Top 30 presented by Mathilda Chauke; as well as Pyupya, the station’s soul and ballad show presented by Themba Techtonics on Sunday from 12:00-15:00’’, said Magubane.
