Mphuma Secondary School from Sekgosese at Mamaila Kolobe-tona dominated the Mopani School Sport Kay Motsepe Cup U/19 at Nkowankowa Stadium on Saturday afternoon to reach the provincial showdown.
Despite having to scrap for victory in their opening game against Phalaborwa based school, Baranuka Secondary, where they had to come from a goal down to force the game to the penalty shoot out they went on to terrorise their opponents.
They won 6-1 against Mashao Secondary School before beating Kheswethane High School, who also qualified for the provicial championship 4-0 in the finals.
Mphuma coach, Ratabala Kamogelo is confident that his bandits will represent Mopani as they proceed to the finals
“I know we are going to make it at the province. We have talented players like 10-10 who i want to see playing professional football. I want to thank the manage of the school for believing in me. This is my first time coaching under-19. I want to thank God for the cup we have won and we are even going to win in the province and progress to the nationals,” He said.
The competition starts at cluster level. Each winning school proceeds to the regional level and each winning school at this level proceeds to the provincial finals. The provincial champions and the runners up participate at the national championships.
Both teams will be contesting for an amount of R100 000 in the provincial championship.
