POLOKWANE: The Police are investigating an inquest docket, following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, 03 October 2023 at around 09h00 in which the alleged illegal miner was killed when a rock fell on him while mining chrome illegally at Atok, Bogalatladi Village.
It is reported, that Police were summoned to the scene after the rock fell on top of the man and arrival with Emergency Services, they found the male victim severely injured. He was certified dead at the scene by EMS.
The deceased was identified as a 39, male originally from Mozambique.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has warned communities to desist from participating in illegal mining activities because they are not only committing serious crimes but as well putting their lives in danger.
