MOKGOLOBOTO-A desperate 17-year-old Tokollo Sekgobela, from Mokgoloboto village, Greater Tzaneen, pleads for help from good Samaritans after she was chased out of home by her mother.
The grade 11 learner at Charles Mathonsi high school gave birth to a healthy baby and claims that her mother has been hostile towards her ever since the baby arrived and consequently told her to leave her house.
“My mother chased me out of home. I haven’t left yet because there is no place I can go to. I am uncomfortable though because she reminds me every chance, she gets that I must leave her house. Please organize me a home or safe place where me and my baby can stay “, she said.
Sekgobela further said that the father of her child is of Pakistan descent and was renting around the village but unfortunately returned back to his country of birth to sort out other pressing matters.
“Anyone who can find it in their good heart to help me and my baby in any way please help me. I receive child support grant but it only helps me with baby milk and diapers. It’s not enough “, Sekgobela sobbed.
Sekgobela’s mother Celia Sekgobela refused to comment on the differences she has with her daughter, citing that it’s a family dispute that doesn’t involve outsiders.
Mokgoloboto ward 17 Cllr Masinge Ngungunyane has promised to engage with the family to offer mediation.
