Mopani District Executive Mayor Cllr Pule Shayi celebrated his 51st birthday on Friday, June 30 by visiting six needy families throughout the district.
The birthday celebrations kicked off with the first step which was to hand over furniture and equipment to Mikateko Day Care Centre at Boelang village in the Ba-Phalaborwa local municipality.
He then proceeded to hand over a beautiful three-bedroom house that is fully furnished to the Maphatha family in Maseke village.
The 47-year-old single mother of four Abitha Maphatha could not hold her tears when theThe executive mayor handed her the keys to her house.
The executive mayor went to a Sod turning ceremony for the construction of a house at Ngove village in the Greater Giyani local municipality.
He also handed food parcels to a family of four that depends on a child support grant. The family is currently living in a one-room house.
His spirit of giving continued when he did another sod turning for a house construction at Sikhunyani village for a 75-year-old pensioner who lives in a mud house with her two unemployed sons. The family also received food parcels.
The birthday celebration continued with the third sod-turning ceremony for the construction of a house at Gandlanani village.
The Executive Mayor Shayi joined by Hosi Ngove, Chairperson of Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders Hosi Hlaneki handed food parcels to the family of the 70-year-old Mamaila Mkhabele who currently resides in a mud house with three orphaned grandchildren.
The birthday celebrant ended his day by handing over equipment and toys to Kamangu Early Learning Centre in Gandlanani village where he also spoke about the importance of early childhood development.
