THOHOYANDOU : University of Venda spokesperson Dr Takalani Dzaga has cautioned students when walking on campus to be wary of monkeys, reports Vhembe Observer.

This comes after one incident was reported where the monkeys attacked a staff member, who sustained injuries while trying to run away.

Dr Dzaga says there are troops of monkeys that are roaming on campus and wildly attacking people, both men and women.

‘The University community is advised to change direction whenever they see a group of monkeys, for safety’s sake, ‘ said Dr Dzaga

‘It is also advisable that when confronted by a monkey, do not look them in the eye, instead make yourself look as big as possible such as by spreading open your coat and backing away as quietly as possible without making sudden moves’, he concluded.
