MOKGOLOBOTO-Residents of Mokgoloboto were spotted on Wednesday fetching dirty water from the streams despite the Municipality’s announcement that the Nkowankowa water plant is now up and running and supplying water in the area.
The village was hit by a water shortage after heavy rainfall flooded the water plants.
The water crisis left the villagers with no choice but to find other alternatives.
“We have no choice but to fetch water from these rain streams, we drink this dirty water with cows and all sorts of animals,” said Lefa Makhubele
“Those who are health conscious boil the river water before using it so that they don’t get sick,”
Makhubele said it is very tough, especially for some of our elderly neighbours. Most grandmothers stay with younger children who cannot carry 20-litre containers.
Ward 17 councillor Masinge and GTM could not be reached for comment.
