Mokgoloboto lost a soccer player and a very special young man

MOKGOLOBOTO: Slain Themba January Mukansi was laid to rest at Mokgoloboto outside Tzaneen on Saturday morning.

Themba was affectionately known as “School Boy” was allegedly stabbed to death by his 21-year-old girlfriend Bonane Mushwana last week at Khujwana village, following an alleged argument.

According to sources close to the couple, the pair had been together for about five years, they were blessed with two children aged two and three years. 

Speaking exclusively to Tzaneen Voice, Mukansi’s close friend Andrew Rikhotso described him as a very special guy.

“Themba was a true definition of special. He was a very good guy. He was humble and very friendly. He loved to crack jokes and was free-spirited. One wouldn’t be bored when he was around”, Rikhotso admitted. 

At the time of his untimely death, the deceased was playing for Tzaneen Killers Football Club, where he was playing as a midfielder.

“Themba was one of the best players in our team. His love for soccer was on another level. He was passionate about football and we will always miss that about him.. We will miss his determination on the field of play,” said an emotional Rikhotso.

Rikhotso further confirmed that their club will host a Memorial SchoolBoy Tournament in memory and honour of their late teammate. The tournament will be played in Dan Village on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Dodo Mushwana told Tzaneen Voice that the deceased was a loving, forgiving and jolly person who loved playing soccer and fathered two children with his alleged killer.

Mushwana says the family has forgiven the woman because they believe it was an accident. He further said they are overwhelmed by the support they received from the community at large.

“We would like to thank the community of Mokgoloboto for the support that they have given the family at this difficult time,” said Mushwana.

Meanwhile, his alleged killer is set to appear at the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 09, facing a charge of murder
