TZANEEN –The teenage beauty queen Amukelani Xihlovo Baloyi, who stems from the belief that the world would be a better place if women were afforded equal opportunities as men, has reached a certain poor family in Burgersdorp, headed by a single mother with donations.

As part of sharpening her profile towards the 2023 Miss Limpopo crown, the grade 5 learner has taken it upon herself to show kindness by donating food and clothing to certain poor families staying in a one-roomed slum house in Burgersdorp under Greater Tzaneen Municipality.

The outspoken teen model says she was touched by the family’s appalling living conditions, where a single mother lives with her three kids in a one-roomed slum house and hoped that her visit would attract other people who will help the struggling family with proper living conditions.

She furthered her project by visiting the old centre based in Polokwane and donated 20 sanitary towels to the needy.

“My visitation to the old care facility was to show our grannies that they are still loved and important, “ she said.

The 11-year-old aspiring professional model, who hails from JB Village in Ga-Mohlaba, Tzaneen has broken into the top 40 of Miss Limpopo competition amongst 300 contestants to book her space to the 2023 competition semi-finals.

The young feminist says when she becomes Miss Limpopo in 2023, she intends to be an advocate of women’s empowerment in a more patriarchal society.
