Miracle Baby Lorraine, Sole Survivor of Bus Crash, Continues Brave Battle in Hospital

MOKOPANE: In the wake of a tragic bus crash that claimed multiple lives, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of Lorraine Atlang Siako

, the sole survivor of the devastating accident. Despite the harrowing ordeal, the resilient infant continues her courageous fight for recovery in the hospital.

Gaolebalwe Siako, who is the mother of the 8-year-old girl who miraculously survived the horrific bus visited her at the Mokopane Hospital in Mahwelereng on Saturday evening.

Lorraine Atlang Siako, a standard 4 student at Bonewamang Primary in Botswana, is the sole survivor of a tragic accident that claimed 45 lives on Thursday morning.

Lorraine along with her maternal grandmother managed to get out of the bus before it careened 50 meters  into the ravine at a treacherous Ga – Mmamatlakala mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken.

Unfortunately her grandmother, 61 – year old Onkemetse Siako succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.

The bus was traveling from Molepolole in Gaborone, Botswana to the St Engenas Zion Christian Church Moria in Boyne for the Easter pilgrimage.

The mother, Gaolebalwe will be forming part of the identification process as she lost her parent ( Onkemetse) in the crash.

Thus far, nine bodies have been identified. The pathologists have 34 body bags from crash while others have burned beyond recognition.
