MOOKGOPONG: South African National Taxi Council [ SANTACO] in Limpopo says the mini-bus that was involved in Tuesday evening’s horror crash near Mookgopong in Waterberg District belongs to the association.
17 people died and burnt beyond recognition after an SUV vehicle lost control due to a tyre burst and collided head-on with the 22-seater mini-bus taxi.
The commuters were travelling from Pretoria to Tzaneen.
SANTACO spokesperson Sipho Maloma confirmed that the minibus belongs to the Phusela Taxi Association.
Meanwhile, residents from Tzaneen and its surrounding townships and villages, who had a friend, relative who was bound to travel from Bosman Pretoria to Tzaneen using public taxi but never arrived home are urged to contact their nearest police station.
The deceased were taken to forensic mortuaries in Bela-Bela and Mokopane.
