Mega love foundation gives love to Phalaborwa young girls

PHALABORWA-MegaLove Foundation held its 1st Conversation with the Girls at Sefapane Lodge in Phalaborwa on 22 July 2023.

The role of the foundation in the community is to provide a safe platform for young girls to express their views, in return building their confidence, to become better leaders.

Forty-five learners from schools around the Namakgale circuit graced the event with their presence.

The Director and founder of Megalove Foundation, Martha Dapa, opened the programme by speaking about the purpose of the event.

She indicated that their foundation believes in building a generation of knowledgeable, confident, courageous and financially independent women, who in turn will make the world a better place, by also giving back to their communities.

They also believe in reaching out to all women irrespective of age and geographical area. Dignitaries present at the event were Mme Aletta Mathale, Acting Deputy Director of Nursing Services, at Maphutha Malatji Hospital. Usiah Nkwane, Director of Mokhomole Projects PTY Ltd. Big Sister, Ndcedisa Zwane.

Teen Inspiration, Lebogang Sebashe. Miss Teen 2nd Princess Lulekani, Kaizah Banda and Beautician, Merriam Mokhabukhi. The following topics were covered during the event: Gender Based Violence (GBV), Mental Health Awareness, Life Skills, Grooming and Beauty, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, and Walking with confidence.

The  Program Director, Mokgadi Malatji, who is the Co-founder of MegaLOVE foundation and a specialist in hospitality and event management kept the audience mesmerised with her insightful remarks throughout the programme.

Mme Aletta Mathale spoke about Gender Based Violence and the importance of mental health awareness.

She also covered the topic of HIV Aids and its prevention. Big Brother Usiah Nkwane from Mokhomole Projects PTY LTD spoke about the need for young girls to have life skills so that they can become better people who can live good life and better that of others in their surroundings. Big Sister Ndcedisa Zwane also gave them words of wisdom and ways to face challenges as young women.

Lebogang Sebashe from Teen Inspiration spoke about the need for youth to be confident in themselves regardless of the background they come from. Beauty is both internal and external as mentioned by Merriam Mokhabukhi. Walking confidently is also part of the process as shown by Miss Lulekani, Kaizah Banda. In closing, Nomakhulu and Mmagauta Nare thanked the girls for attending the event and wished to see them again during the Conversations with the Girls event in 2024. Guests were entertained by David Monyela.

We also want to give thanks to the parents, teachers, governing bodies and everyone who was involved in making the event a success. To the circuit Manager, Mr  Shikweni, we are grateful.
