Meet the teacher behind 100% in Xitsonga at Majeje High School in Phalaborwa

PHALABORWA-Fridah Mhlari, the Xitsonga Home Language teacher at Majeje High School prides herself on the 100% pass rate the learners achieved during the 2023 matric results.

The school achieved a 72.4% pass rate putting the school at number 8 in the Lulekani circuit. Mhlari acknowledged Mr WM Shabangu, Principal MS Duba and Lulekani Circuit Manager Mrs Ntsanwisi who made it possible for her to achieve the 100 percent results.

A total of 185 matriculants wrote Xitsonga Home Language in 2023 and all of them passed. Teacher Mhlari says to achieve these results they profile the learners so that they can identify their weaknesses and help them identify their strong points so that the learners can now gain confidence and believe in themselves.

She further explains that one one-on-one sessions also assisted them, especially when it comes to papers 1, 2 and 3. They also have extra lessons in the morning at 06h00 during summer and 06h30 during winter. They also have afternoon classes from 14h00 to 16h00.

The lower grades of Majeje High School also achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

Mam Mhlari matriculated at Bankuna High School in Nkowankowa. She hails from Bushbuckridge at Cottondale. She graduated from the University of Limpopo.
