The Limpopo MEC for Department of Education Polly Boshielo has expressed shock at the rape of a grade 3 female learner from Mohlabaneng Primary School in Mohlabaneng village, Greater Letaba Municipality.
The MEC has urged community members with information that may assist in the swift arrest of the suspect to come forward so that justice prevails in this matter.
“As a department, we are appalled by this incident and strongly condemn it. It is shocking that those who should be protecting learners, are the ones who prey on them.
All of us, working with the police, must leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the alleged perpetrator is arrested and brought to book without delay. Learners deserve protection wherever they are, inside the school and outside the school” said MEC Boshielo adding that the Department will send pscho-social professionals to the school and family to offer the necessary counselling.
