SENWABARWANA: The late Thobela FM presenter, Matome Maupi was laid to rest in an emotional funeral service this afternoon.
The 52 – year old succumbed to a short illness last week Thursday.
Dignitaries from near and far made their way to Senwabarwana, where Maupi hails to bid farewell and pay their last respects to the broadcast giant.
Maupi was the presenter of the popular current affairs show, Hlokwa La Tsela on Thobela FM since the year 2003, marking 20 years in the public broadcaster, SABC.
Colleagues who worked with him described his departure as a painful one and say it leaves a huge gap to fill as he became the voice of the show for the past two decades.
Maupi is survived by his wife and three children.
