Master KG Continues to put Tzaneen on the Map

CALLIES VILLAGE- Master KG continues on a spectacular winning streak with his prolific hit song ‘Jerusalema’ featuring Nomcebo Zikode by winning the Best African Act at the 2020 MTV EMAs.

In his acceptance speech, Master KG said, “I would love to thank my sister Nomcebo, my team Open Mic Productions, and everyone who has supported Master KG, thank you so much. To all my fans all over the world.”

From the dusty and rural village of Callais in Maruleng Municipality outside Lenyenye Kgaogelo Moagi Started his musical journey few years ago but the Jerusalema hit maker has now made his way to the history books where he ended South Africa’s seven-year losing streak at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) last night, frustrating and upsetting other heavy weights nominated with him.

His banger track features a multi-talented singer and song writer Nomcebo Zikode from KZN in a place known as Hammersdale who did exceptional collaboration with the DJ. She has been an amazing force to be reckoned with and a team player on this powerful project

Master KG was nominated alongside fellow African hit makers “Scorpion Kings” Maphorisa (South Africa) and Kabza de Small (South Africa), globally renowned superstar Burna Boy (Nigeria) and Afrobeats star Rema (Nigeria), songstress Sheebah (Uganda) and Gaz Mawete (Democratic Republic of Congo).

The award comes just days after a remix of the song with Burna Boy was certified diamond in France, with more than 35m streams.

The original song has been streamed more than 200m times on YouTube.

The social media TLs were flooded with messages of congratulations for KG on the award, including from sport, arts and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa.

“Your patriotism shall go down in the annals of history. Continue to pick up the fallen spears of your predecessors in representing our motherland in such a unifying and unprecedented manner,” the minister said.
