Manhunt for Suspect (s) Who Brutally Killed Elderly woman at Ga-Kuranta

GA-KURANTA-The aged woman who was brutally murdered and beheaded, in Ga-Kuranta village, Greater Letaba, has been identified as 85-year-old, Maidi Puledi Malefofane.

It is reported that the pensioner was found in her home, on Tuesday morning, May 17.

The Police received a report about a murder incident that occurred at the said village and on arrival, they found the deceased with multiple serious injuries inside the house. It appeared the assailant(s) used sharp object to kill the victim. Emergency services were called and the elderly woman was certified dead.

This incident has left the community of Ga-Kuranta in utter shock and disbelief with some community members calling for the death penalty to be re-instated.

Meanwhile, the MEC of social development Nkakareng Rakgoale, has condemned the incident in the strongest of terms and dispatched a team of social workers to help with the provision of psychosocial support to the family and affected parties.

“It is very disturbing to see an elderly being attacked in this manner. We call on anyone who might have any information that can lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to come forward”. Rakgoale said.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the provincial spokesperson of SAPS in Limpopo, has reiterated that, community members must be vigilant and look out for each other. Furthermore, he advised people to work hand in glove with the police, to curb the heinous crime that is a nightmare in South Africa.
