EFF Member of the Central Command Team and Member of Parliament Jeanet Komane said they are disappointed with today’s outcome.

“We didn’t expect things to go this way. We believe the investigating officer didn’t do his work to start with. The fact that he went to court and didn’t oppose the bail application on the grounds that he knows the residence of the accused and that he is old does not show efforts to have justice. The accused is a threat to the community and should not have got bail.”; she said.

They claim Van Zyl should have remained in custody until formal bail application on any other day, except today, Thursday.

The case has been postponed to 18 May 2022.
