NKOWANKOWA – The desperate search for a man accused of brutally murdering his ex-girlfriend, Mihloti Faith Shikhibana, has ended in tragedy.
The lifeless body of Victor Hlayisani Shivambu was discovered hanging from a tree in the bushes just outside Nkowankowa township on Thursday evening.
Shivambu was being sought by police in connection with the stabbing of Shikhibana, who later died from her injuries at Letaba Hospital on Monday, April 21.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the 44-year-old victim sustained multiple stab wounds to her upper body.
Both Shikhibana and Shivambu were employed at Mavambe Secure Care Centre in the Vhembe District, where Shikhibana worked as a nurse.
Police are expected to release an official statement regarding the latest developments in the case.
The motive behind the stabbing and subsequent apparent suicide remains unknown and is under police investigation.
