Man stabbed to death over a girlfriend in Giyani

GIYANI-The police in Giyani have opened a case of murder and Assault GBH, following the incident that occurred in the early hours of today, Sunday 22 October 2023.

The police were summoned to the scene of the crime on the gravel road between mnyengani and Mapayeni Village. Upon police arrival, they were pointed at the lifeless body of an African Male lying in the pool of blood next to the white Golf with registration number CJV361Gp.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was a passenger in said vehicle, and they were driving from mnyengani heading to Mapayeni. While driving the driver heard a stone hitting and breaking the window of the vehicle. He then stopped to check the window, before he alighted from the car,

At that stage, he was approached by three unknown African male who alleged that they were looking for their girlfriends and that they believed they were inside his car. One of these three African males forcefully opened the back passenger door, after realising that his girlfriend was inside the car, he started to question who was with his girlfriend. In the process, he stabbed one passenger who was seated next to his girlfriend.

The passenger that was seated in front, then came out to investigate what was happening. He was then stabbed to death by one of these three suspects and all three disappeared from the scene.

The victim who was stabbed while inside the car was transported to Khensani Hospital for medical treatment

All stakeholders were summoned to the scene of the crime and the deceased was certified dead at the scene of the crime by paramedics.

The deceased was identified as Surprise Hlangwani residing in Mapayeni village.

The police are requesting Mr  Mayanda Edith Baloyi who is residing at Mapayeni village to avail himself at the nearest police station to assist the police with an investigation.
