MOKOPANE – In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old man from Mokopane, located outside Polokwane, handed himself over to the police on Monday, 8 July 2024, after fatally stabbing his 40-year-old elder brother the previous day.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba provided details of the incident, which occurred around 6:00 AM on Sunday, 7 July 2024. According to Colonel Ledwaba, the elder brother arrived home in the early morning and knocked on the locked door. After some delay, the younger brother (the suspect) opened the door.

It is alleged that upon entry, the elder brother slapped the suspect, apparently due to the time taken to open the door. This act led to a heated argument between the siblings, during which the younger brother reportedly stabbed his elder brother with a sharp instrument.

Colonel Ledwaba further explained that their mother attempted to intervene and separate them, but by then, the elder brother had already been stabbed and was bleeding. Despite efforts to rush him to the local hospital, the elder brother succumbed to his injuries.

The younger brother is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
