Man shot dead, three injured in a tuckshop robbery shootout in Phalaborwa

PHALABORWA-The Police in Lulekani outside Phalaborwa have launched a manhunt for three unknown male suspects who allegedly shot and robbed a business person at Mokhoanana village and further shot and injured three people on the road near Selwana Traditional Authority.

It is alleged that a  shopkeeper was accosted by the three unknown male suspects in his tuckshop in Mokhoanana village on Friday 29 September at about 19:50 and was robbed at gunpoint of his cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money.

According to the information, the victim was about to close and leave the shop when the suspects armed with firearms shot him in the leg and they fled the scene with a blue sedan motor vehicle of unknown make and model.

In a separate incident believed to be related to the first one, it is alleged that the same evening Friday 29 September 2023 at about 20:00 three men were shot at by unknown suspects on the road near  Selwane Traditional Authority Office at Moshate.

It is alleged that an unknown blue sedan motor vehicle came driving following a silver Volkswagen Polo which was carrying the victim of business robbery being taken to the clinic and suddenly shots were fired from the blue sedan motor injuring the three men. .

On Sunday 2023-10-01 afternoon, it was confirmed that one of the victims succumbed to injuries from the shooting.

The Police are investigating cases of Murder,  three counts of attempted murder and business robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned these incidents calling upon anyone with information about the suspects to contact the Police so that these perpetrators can be apprehended to face the full might of the law.
