TZANEEN-Police in Tzaneen are investigating a case of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm that took place at a farm in Tzaneen, on Thursday, 16 May 2024.
According to the police, the victim and his friend were walking on the farm when an unknown African male emerged from the bushes with a firearm and approached them.
“He subsequently demanded the phones from the two victims. He further instructed them to put down their cell phones, and they did as instructed. As soon as he picked up the cell phones that were on the ground, one victim attempted to take away the firearm, and the suspect fired one shot.
“In a different direction, the victims were able to escape from the suspect. The second victim realized that he had been shot in the left leg. He then went to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“Later on, they reported the incident to the police, and an attempted murder and robbery with a firearm case was opened.
“The police are urging anyone with information that can assist with the arrest of the suspect to contact Detective-Commander Colonel Zitha Phoyisa on 082 414 3309, Crime Stop number 0860010111, the nearest police station, or share information on MySAPSApp.
“The police investigation is still ongoing”, said Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba.
