Man killed in a hit and run on R36 still not identified, search for suspect underway

TZANEEN -The Police in Tzaneen are looking for the relatives of an unknown pedestrian who died after being hit by a speeding car on the R36, near plot 36 and Viva Filling station on Monday, 01, January 2024. 

According to the Police, the light-skinned coloured male victim, believed to be in his 40s, was hit by a speeding motorist, driving a light motor vehicle and then ran off without stopping to assist the injured pedestrian. 

The victim succumbed to the injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at the Letaba Hospital. 

Tzaneen Saps spokesperson sergeant Maurice Nkwashu said “ the deceased was found wearing a pink crew neck t-shirt, blue pair of jeans and black socks, but with no shoes on” 

Nkwashu further said the station has opened a case of reckless and/ or negligent driving and the investigations have commenced.
