LEPHALALE-A 50-year-old man was killed by a wounded buffalo in one of the farms outside Steenbokpan outside Lephalale om Thursday morning.
According to the reports two professional hunters and a photographer were hunting buffaloes in a farm when one of the hunters reportedly shot two bullets from his rifle towards one of the two buffaloes.
The buffalo was hit on the front leg twice before it became aggressive towards the hunters.
The wild animal then attacked the hunters, whom one of tried to hide behind a tree while shooting at and failing to hit it.
The animal managed to demolish the tree before it gored a fellow hunter and knocked him down.
The other hunter reportedly shot at the animal and it launched an attack on him, however he managed to climb a tree for safety and the buffalo returned to the 50-year-old man, who later succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Police added that the buffalo died approximately 15 meters from the scene it fatally attacked the 50-year-old.
The other professional hunter was taken to hospital for medical treatment, a case of inquest was registered under Lephalale Police.
