Man beaten to death in Bolobedu

Police in Mokwakwaila are looking for a group of suspects who attacked a 24-year-old man and stoned and assaulted him with various objects until he died, allegedly by community members at Pelana Village.

The incident took place on Thursday 04 May 2023 at about 23h00.

It is reported that, Police received an alert about community members who were assaulting a person in the said village.

They quickly rushed to the scene together with emergency personnel and found the victim lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries. He was then rushed to a local hospital where he died on arrival.

He was identified as Tshepo Mafa from Ga-Kuranta village.

The reason behind his attack and subsequent killing is still not clear at this stage but further Police investigations will reveal.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police Major General Jan Scheepers has warned community members against vigilante behaviour, that is still persistent in some parts of the province. He said, “Police should be entrusted with any sort of information as they are trained to deal with criminals.”
