DENNILTON-Ntoane Village in Dennilton, Sekhukhune District, was rocked by tragedy on Monday, November 25, 2024, when a 45-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 42-year-old wife to death at their home.
According to preliminary investigations, the fatal incident followed a domestic dispute between the couple. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving the victim critically injured. Emergency medical services were summoned to the scene, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
The police in Dennilton have since opened a case of murder and launched an extensive manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed her outrage and sorrow over the incident, particularly as it coincided with the launch of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
“This is a devastating setback in our fight to protect women and children from violence. It is unacceptable that we continue to lose lives at the hands of those who are meant to care for them. The investigative team must ensure the suspect is tracked down and brought to justice,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
Community members have been urged to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect. Information can be reported to the investigating officer, Constable Malose Lamola, at 060 674 2649, through Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or anonymously via the MySAPSApp.
