THOHOYANDOU-Prior to killing himself, a 24-year-old man allegedly poisoned and killed his girlfriend at Dzwerani Mirenzheni village, outside of Thohoyandou, the tragedy happened on Sunday night.
Orinea Mhangwane, a 24-year-old male, is accused of using an unidentified poison to poison his 17-year-old sweetheart, only identified as Onndwela. then used an electrical cord to hang himself to death.
At the site, a note was discovered, although the police have not yet disclosed what was written on it.
The couple is leaving behind a baby who is only a few months old.
It is not clear what could have triggered this tragedy but police have opened a case of inquest and murder and investigation is underway.
