GA-MAILA– In a harrowing turn of events, three men have been arrested for the brutal murder of a 38-year-old man in the early hours of Tuesday, June 25th, in Ga Maila, Segolo, within the Sekhukhune district.

The suspects, aged between 39 and 40, include the victim’s own brother and two cousins. According to police reports, the tragic event was set into motion following an altercation between the victim and his brother earlier in the day. Following the argument, the brother left to summon their cousins.

Later that night, while the victim was asleep, the three suspects returned, forcefully dragging him out of his room. They then viciously assaulted him with sticks, stones, bricks, and bottles. After the brutal attack, they took the victim back to his bedroom, covered him with blankets, and fled the scene.

The horrific incident was witnessed by the victim’s father, who immediately sought help from neighbors. Emergency Medical Personnel were called to the scene, where the victim was pronounced dead.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, strongly condemned the incident. “I urge families to seek professional help when dealing with domestic issues rather than resorting to violence,” she stated.

The motive behind this gruesome attack remains unclear, though domestic violence has not been ruled out. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, June 27, 2024, to face murder charges.
