NKOWANKOWA-A 54-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 11-year-old neighbor in Limpopo’s Ritavi policing area.
The incident occurred on March 31, 2025, when the victim and her friend slept over at the suspect’s homestead.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, has strongly condemned the incident. “The rape of children is a crime that shocks the conscience of our nation. We will not tolerate such heinous crimes against our children,” she said.
Hadebe emphasized that the police will thoroughly investigate cases of similar nature and bring perpetrators to justice. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible face the full might of the law. Our children deserve to be protected, and we will do everything in our power to ensure their safety,” she added.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court on April 4, 2025, facing a charge of rape.
“We urge the community to work with us in reporting such incidents and to protect our children from these predators,” Hadebe concluded.
