GA-MAMAILA – The Mamaila Kolobetona Traditional Council has appealed to tavern owners and community members to reduce loud music and noise during the ongoing examination period to allow learners a peaceful environment for studying.
In a statement issued this week, the council urged residents to show respect and consideration, particularly as Grade 12 learners across the country prepare for their final examinations.
“We ask that our children be given the chance to read and study without the disturbance of loud music. When learners are writing exams, we kindly request that music be kept low,” the statement reads.
The Traditional Council also reminded the community to observe respect on Fridays, when families welcome the spirits of their deceased loved ones, and to refrain from playing loud music during funerals and mourning periods.
“If there is a funeral in the village, we plead that no loud music be played. Church gatherings, celebrations, and social events can be held on Saturdays after people have returned from the cemetery,” the royal message continued.
The council emphasized that the call is not meant to restrict joy or entertainment but to promote peace, discipline, and mutual respect within the community.
“We will be deeply grateful if our humble request is accepted. Let us protect the dignity of our community and honour both the living and the departed,” the royal family concluded.
