LULEKANI- The Lulekani police welcomed  Lt.Col Musa Maswanganyi into their corps as the new station commander.

Lt.Col Maswanganyi officially took office on Thursday, December 01.

She started her journey in the Department of Education before responding to her call to the South African Police Service in the year 2000 at the rank of Constable where she served at Giyani SAPS under Crime Prevention.

Due to her selflessness and passion for being a teacher, she then joined the HRD office in Gauteng at the rank of a Warrant Officer where she worked as an instructor at the Tshwane SAPS Academy.

Her vast experience in teaching led her in touching a high number of young men and women in blue who were then attending the ‘Basic Training Programme’.

Due to her skills which couldn’t be hidden, she was deployed at Mopani District on 01 July 2018 where on 05 July 2022, she was involved in a lateral transfer to Mokwakwaila SAPS where she made her name and served at the station with flying colours.

Maswanganyi’s top secret towards her success was nothing else but staying focused and humble.

According to the newly appointed station commander, her top secret also involved a proactive policing approach where she established Spiritual Crime Prevention through Social Crime Prevention office within Mokwakwaila policing precinct where together with her team were visiting various churches on Sundays to conduct crime awareness campaigns.

The strategy put Mokwakwaila SAPS on the map after it has shown a serious decline in crime, most especially contact crimes.

Her leadership skills and commitment stole the hearts of the Mopani District office where on 01 December 2022 she was appointed at the hot seat of Lulekani SAPS as a new station Commander.

When asked about her secret of achievement, she simply said ” The beginning of everything is to fear the Lord”

“I am a God-fearing person, I cannot start my day without inviting the Almighty God into my daily activities”

“I believe in teamwork and I am here to work. I have already started with knocking in Tribal Authorities”

She further stated that she would love to work hand and glove with the Municipality, Tribal Authority, CPF, Sisterly Departments and all role players.

“Even though the police are working so hard, there is still a high rate of illegal mining and public violence within the policing precinct of Lulekani, however, I am strongly giving a serious stern to all perpetrators in these criminal activities to watch out as I will be merciless on them” Maswanganyi explained.

“I would like to urge our communities to continue working together with the police by joining Community Policing Forums (Community in Blue), establishing street Committees and conducting neighbourhood watch during these Festive seasons”. She added.

Maswanganyi, further requests her team to continue serving the South African Police Service with pride and honour.

“Criminal activities should be our enemy number one, where priority is our victims. I wish all members and role players all the best during my stay and I wish our enthusiastic partnership with our role players should prevail forever” she said.

In conclusion, Maswanganyi urged the community members to create a limited space for Gender-Based Violence perpetrators.
