GA-MAAKE-It’s not every day you get to stand face to face with a Mozambique Spitting Cobra, but on Monday local snake catcher, Masilo Trinity Maenetja , was called out to rescue this dangerous reptile at Majakaneng village, Ga-Maake in Greater Tzaneen.

It took the rescuer, just 10 minutes to catch the highly venomous snake, he carried out the task with ease, reassuring fellow companions to not panic saying “It’s just a snake” as he continued the mission to get the snake safely into the snake.

He told Tzaneen voice that after receiving a call from the terrified family he quickly rushed to the scene, he was greeted by the sight of the 1.7m long snake hidden but Maenetja subsequently removed it.

Mozambique spitting cobra—a highly venomous snake native to Africa is named for its ability to spit its venom from its fangs into its attacker’s eyes.

The venom is cytotoxic, meaning it is toxic to living cells. It can cause pain, swelling, blisters, and even severe tissue damage.

The snake has since been released into a safe and suitable habitat. He cautioned people not to panic when they see snakes.

“Snakes don’t want to bite people, so all you need to do is keep calm and get dogs away. Dogs will usually attack snakes and often get bitten in the process. Then, just keep your eyes on the snake without disturbing or interfering with it,” Arnold said.

Maenetja said that, if the snake was dangerous, a professional catcher should be called to remove it safely : Contact him at 0724285014
