Limpopo Traffic Police arrest 33-year-old male VW driver for clocking 188 km/h on the N1 freeway

MOKOPANE-The Limpopo Traffic Police, High-Speed Unit arrested a 33-year-old male driver on Monday after being found excessively speeding a white VW Golf at 188 km per hour on a prescribed maximum limit of 120 km per hour zone along the N1 Mokopane.

The Traffic Police’s High-Speed Unit continuously conduct operations on Limpopo’s major routes and freeways.

The driver was detained at Mokopane police station facing charges relating to reckless and negligent driving with an alternative charge of driving in excess of the prescribed speed limit of 120 km per hour.  

Meanwhile, 34 male drivers were arrested for drunk driving at various traffic law enforcement operations across the province during the Reconciliation Day long weekend, 15-17 December 2023.

This is in addition to the 84 drunk drivers who have been arrested since the beginning of December. All the arrested drivers appeared at magistrate courts on December 18.
