MOKGOLOBOTO: Limpopo MEC for Social Development Mme. Nkakareng Rakgoale has Wednesday visited the family of a 28-year old Themba Mukansi who was allegedly stabbed to death by his 21-year-old girlfriend.
The MEC was accompanied by the Greater Tzaneen Municipality Mayor Maripe Mangena and some Councillors from the local municipality to Mokgoloboto village, outside Tzaneen.
The incident happened at Khujwana village after the pair allegedly argued.
The MEC sent words of condolences to the family of the deceased.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the family and we are extremely disappointed that we see yet another case of gender-based violence in our region,” she said.
MEC Rakgoale also encouraged citizens to talk to social workers and get help.
“We are pleading with the citizens to get in touch with our social workers, who are forever readily available to deal with such social challenges because we don’t want to deal with such sad situations and experience this kind of pain,” MEC Rakgoale mentioned.
Mukansi leaves behind his two children aged two and three. MEC Rakgoale says social workers will remain with the family during this trying period and also ensure that government assists with the burial of Mukansi as he is from a needy family.
She says the incident is an indication that there is still more that needs to be done to clamp down incidents of Gender-Based Violence
