Limpopo artists applaud 95% of local artists’ inclusion in the Mapungubwe Arts Festival.

POLOKWANE- The Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts and culture Nakedi Kekana has on Wednesday, November 15, launched the 14th Mapungubwe Arts Festival that is set to take place in Polokwane, Capricorn district in December.

The exciting Arts Festival returns after 2-years of Covid-19 disruptions.

The eight days Arts festival will manifest in six thrilling activities of Cultural carnival, a marathon on the 3rd of December, Art and Craft market exhibitions from the 4th-09th of December and a comedy session on the evening of the 9th of December.

The Art Festival will then culminate into a star-studded Music Festival at Polokwane Cricket Club on Saturday,10 December 2022.

The concert’s line-up contains 95% of Limpopo’s well-known and aspiring artists both in comedy and music performances, which includes the likes of Mashabela, Noko Mosoete, Makhadzi, Lima award-winning Pleasure tsa Manyalo, King Monada, Motlanalo, Dr Winnie Mashaba, the Limpopo music legendaries Penny Penny, Joe Shirimane, Dr Colbert Mukhwevho, the 2022 Idols winner Thapelo Molomo and other artists outside the province includes Dr Rebecca Malope, Big Zulu.

MEC Kekana said, ” we want to show South Africa that Limpopo has some of the best talents in the country”.

Some artists in the province such as Motlanalo, and Pleasure Tsa Manyalo have applauded the Limpopo SAC for prioritizing the local artists in the flagship events of the province and entrusting them with the duty of commemorating the province’s heritage through their talents.

” We applaud the SAC department for taking care of their people first. Am happy that things are moving in the correct direction, which is to host events that will benefit first the people of Limpopo” Motlanalo Rammalo said.

The LIMA artist of the year Pleasure Tsa Manyalo said she’s honoured to be part of the local artists who will participate in the festival.
