POLOKWANE – Police in Limpopo have arrested a 45-year-old man, believed to be a senior member of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Peter Mokaba Region, for the alleged rape of his 15-year-old step-daughter.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident took place in Juju Valley, where the suspect allegedly forced himself on the teenager. Following an investigation, police arrested the suspect on Saturday, 25 October 2025.

SAPS  confirmed that the suspect appeared briefly before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 October 2025, facing a charge of assault. The matter was postponed to 1 December 2025 for a formal bail application, and the suspect remains in custody.

Preliminary information indicates that the accused had recently rejoined the ANC from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and was involved in the party’s membership recruitment programme in Seshego.

The ANC in the Peter Mokaba Region expressed deep concern over the allegations, saying the party will not hesitate to act should the member be found guilty.

“The ANC takes allegations of this nature very seriously and will cooperate fully with law enforcement to ensure that justice is served,” said regional spokesperson Adolph Rapetswa.

The case remains under investigation, and police have urged anyone with additional information to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
