LENYENYE: Residents of ward 31 in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality have raised concerns over people who help themselves in public.
The concerns were raised during a quarterly feedback meeting held at the Lenyenye Community Hall on Sunday morning.
The progress meeting was chaired by ward councillor, Caiphus Mabitsela, who reported feedback regarding what was promised in the last quarter.
Among the many issues discussed in the meeting, the more pressing issue revolved on people who help themselves in public spaces.
Some community members say they are now unable to visit the Post Office due to the unbearable smell that emanates from the wall of the building.
The blame has been solely placed on ‘irresponsible people who drink publicly’ and those who don’t see the importance of keeping their environment clean.
One community member said she was disgusted by the spills of urine that she had encountered while on her way to collect her letters from the post offices.
“It’s disgusting that we have see other people’s urine while we are going to do important things in the post offices. Those are in a public space but we can’t access them now because drunkards view them as ablution facilities,” she bemoaned
On the brighter side, Mabitsela announced that they are progressing well in the maintenance of high mast lights in the township, promising that all will be operational in no time.
Mabitsela further said that they are happy with the progress of patching up potholes.
The community was also briefed on the Seboye High School Under 17 Netball that will represent Limpopo in Johannesburg, Gauteng as well as the ongoing Blocks Soccer tournament held at Lenyenye Stadium.
