POLOKWANE-The Police in Saselamani have arrested a 21-year-old male suspect for a rape incident that took place on Monday, 06 November 2023 at Phaweni village in Vhembe District.
According to the information available at this stage, it is alleged that the victim , a girl aged 16 years old on Monday 06 November 2023 at about 17:30 was alone at her homestead busy studying when an unknown male suspect invaded the house forcefully, thus opening the door.
He then forced himself into the victim and raped her in the process. The suspect took away the victim’s cell phone when he fled the scene on foot. It is reported that the victim was left unconscious.
The incident was reported at Saselamani Police Station and the police immediately activated a manhunt the suspect was traced and arrested on Tuesday, 07 November 2023.
The case docket of rape was transferred to Malamulele Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigations.
The suspect is expected to appear before Saselamani Periodical Court on Wednesday, 08 November 2023.
