DAN VILLAGE – The Tzaneen police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who offered a learner a lift from school before raping her. They have appealed to the community to assist with information.
According to the police report the teenage girl was raped at Lusaka village, Dan village under Ritavi policing area.
According to the information received the Tzaneen SAPS Communications officer Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu,
It is alleged that on Monday 02 October 2023, an 18-year-old victim was walking home from school with her schoolmate when they were offered a lift by two known local males in a black VW Polo with the driver who was a prominent community member known to be working very well with her mother.
It is further alleged that they drove around together with the two gentlemen up until it was very late when they drove home to the driver’s residence.
The known 33-year-old male passenger then overpowered the 18-year-old teenager and raped her.
A case of rape had been opened in the Ritavi police station for further investigation.
Police are appealing to Wisani Freeman Nakana to come give a statement that will help with the investigation.
