PHALABORWA-King Monada withdrew from a planned performance at the Annual Phalaborwa Spring Festival due to an alleged payment dispute.

The Lemenemene hitmaker wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday that he is no longer part of the lineup but did not state the reasons why he is no longer part of the event.

Meanwhile, Lefa Promotions confirmed the cancellation in a statement and said they tried by all means to sustain their relationship with King Monada but it seems like the artist is continually taking advantage of their kindness.

“Lefa Promotions and our mother company Mabele NKL Holdings have been working and supporting King Monada in all our events but it’s with great regret that King Monada decided to drop us after we paid him as per the attached proof of payments”  the statement said

According to the event management company the pair are at loggerheads following their dispute about a song that King Monada was supposed to do for Phalaborwa Spring Festival as a promotional song for a television advert that Lefa promotions wanted to use since July.

Norman Malatji the CEO of Lefa promotions says they paid Monada his R20 000 for the song in July, so it could be used as a television promo and King Monada never did or delivered the song.

“This delayed the television advert of the festival. On top of that, the musician has been paid a R25 000 deposit to perform at the festival. After he failed to deliver the song he was told that he would be paid the remaining R5000 for the performance and they would now deduct the R20 000 they paid for the song as part of his balance for the festival performance” he said

All hell broke loose and King Monada allegedly told Lefa Promotions that he was pulling out .”

Monada’s manager Albert Makwela said he was not told about the agreement between Monada and Lefa promotions, he only realised this today (Thursday) when he engaged with Malatji of Lefa promotions and this has compromised their long-term business relations as they have been booking King Monada annually for the festival.
