MAWA BLOCK 2-On Friday, August 10 less fortunate learners from Khesethwane High School at Mawa Block 8 in Greater Tzaneen received brand-new school uniforms and shoe donations.
Following a school needs analysis it was discovered that 34 learners who come from disadvantaged families do not have proper school uniforms.
Principal Malatji MR said that the learners were not walking with confidence when they came to school, thanks to the donation.
According to PR Cllr. Selaelo, the majority of students at the school come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and as a result of such deprivation, some students end up dropping out of school owing to a lack of school necessities’’.
The event was attended by the Mopani District Municipality leadership along with Ward 2 Cllr. Manyama Edward, PCR of the Mopani District Selaelo Mpho Desiree, Ancyl Lemowa Branch Youth League Chairperson Moila Tebogo, B.E.C. of Lemowa Branch and Ward Committee Member and Regional Deputy Secretary of COSAS Selelo Kgotso.
As part of the celebration and in recognition of receiving the donation teachers, SBG members, learners, and parents expressed their appreciation.
“Moving forward, we will identify more challenges in schools and we will try to assist in terms of such basic needs,” said Ward 2 Cllr Manyama
