Joe Ramatsi: We Were Elected Unopposed Due to Hard work and Desire for Unity

TZANEEN- Norman Mashabane’s newly elected ANC Youth League (ANCYL) chairperson, Joe Ramatsi says his unopposed election is an attribute of hard work and a desire for unity amongst the majority of his party’s youth in the region.

‘The uncontested election of the top 5 positions is an indication of our hard work in mobilising youth behind the banner of the ANC and secondly is that young people are ready to forge unity, which is the cornerstone of our organization’ Ramatsi said.

The Norman Mashabane’s ANC Youth League was, prior to the 9th regional conference led by a task team which consisted of now chairperson Joe Ramatsi as a Convenor and Thabang Mkhawana as coordinator, who has been elected uncontested as a secretary.

While Renny Mabuza was elected as Deputy Chairperson, Hendrick Valoyi as Deputy Secretary and Nxalati Maswanganyi as the treasurer.

Towards the 8th Conference held in Phalaborwa, Ramatsi was bombarded by few elements within ANCYL because of his age, citing that he will soon go beyond the required age limit. However, Ramatsi said at the time of the conference, any young person in good standing with ANCYL is eligible to stand. He further labelled these claims is a smear campaign against his candidature.
