NKOWANKOWA-Matimba Makaringe from Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen, the founder and owner of Courageous Cosmetics a company that produces perfumes and honey, was honored among the 50 women honored each year by the Mail and Guardian under the banner Power of Women.
The prize presentation took place on August 31, 2023.
Makaringe was chosen amongst the 50 Powerful change-makers and industry influencers who have made a positive, notable impact in their respective sectors of academia, agriculture, business, communities, healthcare, mining, media/telecommunications and sports.
The 33-year-old has created a fragrance-making business from scratch after resigning from her corporate communication and Business Development job.Despite having mental health issues, she did not allow her past to determine who she would become.
She combined her work and her love, and as a result, the company is now successful and was acknowledged and praised at this year’s Mail and Guardian awards under the business category.
The entrepreneur and motivational activist said being listed among the most inspirational trailblazers in South Africa was such a pleasant experience.
“I recognise and realise these defining moments for what they truly are: accomplishments, blessings, career milestones, and recognition for all the effort I put into my business.” She added.
Makaringe acknowledges everyone who has walked this trip with her, including her family, friends, role models, mentors, mentees, and the incredible team courageous. “Inkomu, for illuminating the path and encouraging me to press on, said Matimba,” She concluded.
