Identity of Deceased Woman in R101 road Bela-Bela Hit-and-Run Incident Revealed

BELA-BELA-The mystery surrounding the identity of the woman involved in a tragic hit-and-run accident on 26 May 2024 has been resolved.

The victim, who was found with severe injuries on the R101 in the Bela-Bela area at approximately 09:00, has been identified as Rosina Lerato Mochibi, a 22-year-old resident of Vaalwater in the Waterberg District.

Community members discovered Mochibi’s body on the side of the road, where she was found to have sustained injuries consistent with a motor vehicle accident. The incident has since led to the South African Police Service (SAPS) opening a case of murder.

In the wake of this tragic event, the SAPS is calling on the community for assistance. Investigating Officer Captain Dana Smith is appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be shared directly with Captain Smith at 081 577 4383 or reported anonymously through Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Additionally, information can be submitted via the MySAPS app.

The SAPS emphasizes that all information provided will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality as they continue their investigation into this case.
