The University of Venda in partnership with the Hubei University of Technology and the Chinese Embassy in Pretoria unveiled the Plaque to host the 7th Confucius Institute in South Africa on 05 December at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou.
Hubei is a Chinese province that is a shareholder of Palabora Mining Company (PMC)
Currently, six Confucius Institutes are operating in the following South African universities, namely, Stellenbosch University, Rhodes University, University of Johannesburg, University of Cape Town, Durban University of Technology and the University of the Western Cape.
The objectives of Confucius Institutes and classrooms are to promote the learning of Chinese language, culture, and medicine. The Confucius Institute at UNIVEN will be different from the others as it will focus on Green Technology.
