NAMAKGALE-When Lerato Raganya (41) decides to run her own business, she was adamant about committing to something that will give her a reason to wake up every day.

Raganya is the owner and director of TLK Multi Projects a business that Manufactures paving bricks, Pavement painting, Pavement Installation and flowerpots.

Just like many female entrepreneurs her journey to build a successful business was never a smooth ride as she met so many obstacles to be where she is today.

After matriculating at Frans du Toit High School in Phalaborwa she furthered her tertiary studies in different institutions including Mopani TVET College but her passion has always been running her own business.

She tried to do different businesses like selling clothes, shoes and perfumes, and attained courses to be a cake baker with different people and different locations but then she realised that she was moving into a sector that she had no passion for. She wanted to do something different from what other women in the township were doing.

“I came across paving bricks while I was driving around Polokwane and I took an effort to meet a man the owner and started asking him a lot of questions regarding the bricks because I wanted to install them in her yard” She said

The business officially started in 2021 at her home garage in Namakgale but moved to a more accessible location in November 2022 along R71.

Raganya says the move was strategic because her Customers and Clients can access her without any hassle.

Eventually, she started manufacturing them after four months of buying the machinery she was manufacturing with the phone on my ear as I was listening to instructions which came out so beautifully.

Her biggest vision is to create sustainable employment opportunities for the community of Namakgale, especially for young people

To date, the business has employed six people, something that makes her happy.

Her advice that she would give to people out there, especially the young generation and women is Let’s do a self-introspection and check what is it that we are good with our hands for us to start our businesses. Identify the kinds of products or services that are needed in your area to provide that.
