GIYANI-A 9-year-old girl was hit by a speeding car at Dengeza village on Saturday morning.
The police were on their routine patrol when they were summoned to the scene of the crime in the said area. Upon their arrival at the scene of the crime, they found the family members of the deceased who pointed to the deceased body that was lying next to the grey polo.
It is alleged that the deceased was crossing the road together with her mother to the other side of the road when a grey polo that was travelling at the high speed hit the child and she died instantly.
A 17-year-old driver was arrested at the scene of the crime and an investigation is underway.
Giyani SAPS revealed the name of the victim as Tintswalo Maghty Mayepa and a case of Culpable homicide is registered.
Necessary procedures will follow to deal with children with the conflict of law.
