MASOMA-A 41-year-old male suspect was arrested in the early hours of Friday, 07 March 2025, at Masoma village, Maake policing area, in the Mopani District.
Members of the Provincial Tracking Team operationalised information received regarding a male suspect in possession of a firearm at Masoma village.
The Provincial Tracking Team, alongside Mopani Tracking Team, Mopani Highway Patrol and Tzaneen TRT, identified the address of the suspect, tactically approached, and searched the house. Upon searching the house, the house owner was found in possession of a firearm and five live ammunitions that he failed to give an account for.
The suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, and he will appear before Maake Magistrate’s Court on Monday 10 March 2025 for a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe says ” I am so proud of residents of Masoma village who trusted the police with this sensitive information which led to this arrest and seizure. SAPS members, you have done an excellent work to remove unlicensed firearms from wrong hands”.
