GTM mayor’s office and his presence foundation donate school shoes in celebration of the mayor’s birthday

TZANEEN- The Greater Tzaneen Municipality mayor’s office and His Presence Foundation donated school shoes to learners from six rural no fee schools, in celebration of the municipal mayor Gerson Molapisane’s 59 birthday. 

In marking the 59th birthday of Molapisane to the benefit of the needy, his office led by GTM Youth Officer Alido Peta together with His Presence Foundation embarked on a make a learner shine roadshow that donated school shoes that brought delight to both learners and parents. 

“We have observed that majority of learners in particularly rural area schools need support from government and private sectors, since their parents don’t have enough money to buy their kids a proper uniform, while take care of the household expenses, so we together with Selaelo Ramahlo of His Presence Foundation partnered to celebrate our mayor’s birthday in a way that it will bring delight to faces of those who don’t have” GTM Youth Officer Alido Peta said. 

The two parties cemented their partnership which saw more than 500 needy learners from schools based at rural areas throughout the municipality, receiving school shoes and sanitary towels.

The six rural primary schools that benefited from this partnership include, Motupa Kgomo, Moleketla, Sethong, Mokhutuphi, Kgahara and Marumose. 

The make a leaner shine roadshow started on Monday, 5 February at Motupa Kgomo Primary School in Bolobedu South and then culminated with the mayor’s birthday celebration at both Kgahara and Marumofase Primary Schools outside Lenyenye township on Wednesday, February 7. 

During his address, Mayor Molapisane encouraged learners to prioritise their education for a better future and offered words of inspiration and motivation. 

The mayor promised to resolve the condition of the road leading to these schools.

Former Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Humphrey Mokgobi, was also present in celebration of Molapisane’s birthday festivities. 

 The Mayor’s birthday cake was enjoyed by grade R learners of both schools.
